October 20, 2014- in Salina Cruz with Elder Rodriguez

Hey guys whats up! So this was great! First off we baptized Jose Manuel! I’ll try to send pics in a minute but it was cool cause another Ward had a baptism and a ton of people showed up including all of Jose’s family who are menos activos. We are working a ton with them and to get there grandparents to the temple and also with the grandsons cause there are 3 potencial missionarios there.

This week it also rained like a beast. Salina Cruz is known for its flooding and it gets dangerous with all the hills. We had to walk home yesterday and my comp almost got washed away in the current, but we made it.

Today we went to the beach and played some volleyball and then Mario took us to get burgers at Burger King. There is nothing more fancy here than Burger King- it’s kinda funny.

I got tazed twice this week, haha  ya, you can buy  tazers here. One of my zone leaders tazed me cause I put an  iguana in their bedroom haha I also got a crab stuck in my mouth  haha I can’t wait for you to come here haha it’s such a different world

This week we also got another baptism planned with Emma for Saturday. She is awesome, she has had some awesome spiritual experiences and getting an answer, she’ s gonna be a great convert.

I also fixed our toilet. The floaty ball has to go down or the tank doesn’t fill back up.

The 2 pit bulls that live in our house got in a fight this week and killed our neighbors pit bulls. That was quite the morning.

We also had a zone meeting this week and it was great to just sit back and listen for a couple hours.

have a good week love you guys!

October 13, 2014- in Salina Cruz with Elder Rodriguez

this week was a lot better in here in salina cruz. me and elder Rodriguez have got the area down a lot better now and don’t spend as much time walking around lost as we did. We are actually having a lot of success and actually have some baptisms coming up in this next couple of weeks.

This week , José Manual, a ten year old kid from a part member family is going to get baptized. all his family is in the process of getting reactivated also. so ya he’s the first of many that we hope to see get baptized in our area. oh and yes we finally have electricity.... right now for us it’s just been pretty much a ton of contacting and meeting new people. we don’t have a ton of active members that live in our area( the majority live in salina 1) but we do have a lot of menos activos that gotta get going. my comps doing awesome, you would have never thought he only had a couple of weeks. it’s really different here and I miss puerto but it’s all great.

let’s see, also this week someone threw a dead cat in our patio, I met a menos activo in our ward that was (and still is) like a big time boxer he’s sixty years old and preparing for a big fight in a couple weeks. the lesson started with us talking to him about Jesus Christ and finished with me outside in boxing gloves and him telling me to hit him as hard as I can in the stomach. Also I ate another iguana and ate tacos at a place called taco madre..
have a good week!

From the YM/YW- we are doing a special missionary mutual. Can you please ask each of your missionaries to send a brief message to the youth of the ward about their missionary experience.

1. read the book of mormon. it’s hard to ask people to do something if you’ve never done it yourself.

2.after you read the book of mormon pray about it and ask to know it’s true, there’s nothing more important than a true testimony of it.

3.have good habits of waking up early, studying, exercising and eating lots of food and drinking water, cleaning bathrooms, take out the trash putting on deodorant and shutting the fridge. the little things make a big difference.

4.know how to take care of yourself. maybe you don’t need to learn how to wash clothes in a bucket or cook food on an iron but stuff like ironing a shirt and shining shoes are important.

5. don’t snore. there is nothing worse than a companion who snores.(actually there is, it’s a brother who snores)

6.go to mutual, don’t sleep in seminary, listen to your parents, stuff like that

really the most important thing is doing the little things.

October 6, 2014- in Salina Cruz with Elder Rodriguez

Elder Sawyer and Alditho- watching General Conference

This week has been a super crazy week here in Salina Cruz. We haven’t had electricity since we got here and have pretty much just been walking around lost trying to orientate ourselves. But all in all it went really good, we were actually able to put three baptismal dates and all 3 came to general conference Sunday. General conference was great! It was weird watching it in the exact same room as one year ago. I really liked Richard g Scotts talk about his 4 tools that help us in our lives and elder Bednar’s talk at the end was perfect for all those investigatores there. It was also pretty cool that some of the speakers talked in their native language. For the Spanish ones we snuck in the back of the chapel to hear it in Spanish instead of the translation. Everyone laughed when they saw all the gringos go in and out for the one talk haha. The coolest part was seeing everybody from Morro haha, today I actually got permission and we went and ate iguana with Mario and I was able to say hi to a bunch of people, which was awesome. It’s way hot here and our area is pure hills, so I’m dropping a ton of weight. I like it here and there’s a lot of potencial in the area and elder Rodriguez is doing awesome in his first week! Wow that sounds quite the week with sports, too bad for QC, but Schureman will get it fixed for the playoffs. I actually heard about a lot of that college football stuff that happened, pres Madsen is a little bit bigger college football fan than pres Leyva haha.
but ya that’s about it- have A GOOD WEEK!
